A Ducted Photovoltaic Façade Unit with Forced Convection Cooling

This paper explores the potential of forced convection cooling in a ducted photovoltaic façade unit. Where panel is backed by 5 cm thick insulated duct at depth 50 cm. The heat removal from unit due to investigated with range fan speeds 1 m/s 6 m/s. It found that ΔT between inlet and outlet ranged 2.6–24.6 °C. A speed 4 yielded highest removing 550 W efficiency 51%. Whereas lowest mean PV cell temperature 62.7 would improve cell’s 17.53%. very experimental setup has been tested previously natural cooling, which removed 529 maximum 48.98% improves 12.69%. addition power recovered system was 68.53% former (i.e., convection), while it 61.67% for latter. 12 V DC variable electric circuit powered fraction generated 0.75 W) better translated into nearly 19 further energy generation.
